Description

The original grave on the right is that of Lieutenant (Lt) Ernest Harold Mack, A Company, 8th Light Horse Regiment, of Berrybank, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment on 21 September 1914, Mack embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Star of Victoria on 25 February 1915 as a lance corporal with regimental number 66. He died of wounds on 23 December 1916 in Egypt. His brother, 67 Private Stanley Mack, who served with the same Regiment also served with the AIF; he returned to Australia on 7 September 1915.
