Studio portrait of 43279 Pilot Officer (PO) Jack Clarence Burraston RAF, of Kanwal, New South Wales. He was one of a small number of Australians sent to train as a pilot with the RAF and war was declared while he was en route to England. Burraston was killed in a training accident on 6 July 1940. He is buried at St Andrews Churchyard, Cranwell, United Kingdom.
