Rear Admiral Galfrey George Ormond Gatacre CBE DSO DSC, Flag Officer Commanding East Australia Area (FOCEA) (centre), escorts Dr Alexander Forbes, Minister for the Navy (left) and an unidentified official, across the deck of the RAN aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne (II), after their arrival by helicopter the day after the collision with HMAS Voyager (II). The collision took place on the night of 10 February 1964, during exercises off Jervis Bay, southern NSW. HMAS Voyager sank with the loss of 82 lives.
