An informal group portrait of 19853 Chaplain of the Forces 3, Padre Patrick John McCormick, “Father Pat” of Ipswich, Qld, (left) Sister Marie Emmanuel, Superior of the Tan Tai village orphanage, (right) just outside Phan Rang and some of the children from the orphanage. During his tour of duty from October 1967 to November 1968, Father Pat visited the orphanage children daily playing with them, helping to construct new buildings and delivering toys donated from organisations in Australia, or bought from his own pocket. Father Pat was awarded the MBE (Military division) on 30 January 1969 for his work in Vietnam.
