A typical 24 hour British ration pack, which consisted of one oatmeal block; a small pack of Sun Maid raisins; two small 40 gram tins of jam and cheese; enough tea, sugar and condensed milk for making three cups; some toilet paper; a bar of chocolate or Mars bar (white with age); a bag of boiled lollies; a salt sachet; a small tin of milk; three 100 gram tins of either sausages and beans, steak and egg, baked beans or liver and bacon and a packet of hard biscuits which required water and overnight soaking to be edible. "We learned to live in the jungle, eat British 24 hour ration packs and survive on one bottle of water a day" said 3/5605 Corporal Graeme Hardiman, of Melbourne, Vic, a former rifleman and medic with the Assault Pioneer Platoon, Support Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR). These British issue ration packs were later replaced with ones of Australian manufacture.
