Studio portrait of VX45220 Corporal (Cpl) Ronald James (Ron) Barassi, 7th Division Supply Column, Australian Army Service Corps, of Footscray, Vic. Barassi played in the position of rover for the Melbourne Football Club between 1936 and 1940. He was one of four Melbourne premiership players - Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott, Sid Anderson and Harold Ball who were killed in action during the Second World War. Barassi enlisted on 15 July 1940 and died of wounds on 31 July 1941, in Tobruk, aged 27 years.
