Studio portrait of 419142 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) John Francis Ryan, RAAF, a pilot with No 576 Squadron RAF. He enlisted on 14 July 1942 in Melbourne, Vic, and was killed on 17 March 1945, aged 20, when his Landcaster Bomber failed to return from a raid on Nuremberg, Germany. He is buried at Durnbach War Cemetery, Bayern, Germany.
