Group portrait of soldiers of 5 Platoon, B Company, 3 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), at their lines in Nui Dat a fortnight after the fierce action in Long Khanh province on 7 June 1971, during Operation Overlord (5 - 14 June 1971). After the action, the depleted platoon was brought up to strength with reinforcements, and now numbers 24 men. Those wounded on 7 June are absent, either still convalescing in hospital or having been medically evacuated to Australia. Identified, front row fifth from left: 235390 Lieutenant Graham John Kells, Platoon Commander, who was awarded the Military Cross for his coolness under fire and his outstanding leadership during the eight hour battle. A Distinguished Conduct Medal and two Military Medals were also awarded to other men in 5 Platoon and to the artillery unit supporting 5 Platoon.
