Winsor, Jacob Thomas (Petty Officer, b.1902 - d.1989)
Collection relating to the service of 10896 Petty Officer Jacob Thomas Winsor, Royal Australian Navy, 1925-1947. Collection consists of: (a) diary kept by Petty Officer Jacob Thomas Winsor, from 3 September 1939 to 2 January 1941; (b) album with decorative cover (painted and embossed Japanese scene) containing sixty-five black & white photographs. Photographs depict British (HMS Georgic, HMS Glenearn), Italian (Galileo Galilei) and Australian ships (HMAS Hobart, HMAS Westralia); Berbera, British Somaliland; evacuees from Berbera aboard HMAS Hobart; the liner RMS Georgic burning at Port Tewfik (Gulf of Suez); evacuees (possibly Australian nurses) from Padang; (c) typed transcript of diary of Petty Officer Winsor from 3 September 1939 to 2 January 1941; (d) album containing seventeen black & white photographs relating to the WW2 service of Petty Officer Winsor; (e) certificates of service and discharge documents relating to Petty Officer Winsor; (f) collection of roneod leaflets entitled 'Did You Know?' detailing information about a number of ships; (g) hand-written account of a day long sight-seeing trip in Bombay [undated, and not written in the hand of PO Winsor].
