An unidentified pilot of No 9 Squadron RAAF, seated in the cockpit of anl Iroquois UH-1H helicopter gunship, preparing to take off. To his right, next to the ‘emergency exit’ sign, is a smoke grenade canister. When thrown from the aircraft it can be used to mark a ground position or to give the pilot vital information on wind direction and conditions.
