Description

Italian M33 steel helmet. The helmet is oval in shape with the rim rising slightly at the front. There are three ventilation holes around the crown, one at the front and two on the sides towards the rear. Inside the helmet is a leather liner stamped with the maker's details and date 'S MAGGIANI & Co. TORANO. 1939'.

History / Summary

Collected by NX15070 Driver William Allan Evans of Canterbury, NSW during service in the North Africa campaign. Born in January 1919, Evans enlisted in the AIF on 21 May 1940. He served with the artillery during the war and was discharged on 11 September 1946 from 2 Australian Artillery Training Regiment.
