Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk I* Rifle
Description
No 4 Mark I* Lee-Enfield Rifle. The receiver is stamped 'No 4 MkI* 'over 'LONG BRANCH 1943' on the left side and the serial number is on the wrist. The bolt number matches. It has a cut down butt and fore end with an inverted centre band and sling swivel near the muzzle. The barrel has been cut down and there is no fore sight. The weapon retains the ten round box magazine and the two hole battle rear sight. There is some red paint on the right side of the wrist.
History / Summary
This weapon was confiscated by D Company, 1 Royal Australian Regiment on 15 February 1993 while it was serving with the United Nations peacekeeping contingent in Somalia.
