Studio portrait of 2159 Private (later Sergeant) Albert Gordon Burt, 4th Light Horse Regiment (later Corps Head Quarters AIF), of Melbourne, Victoria. A school teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Katuna (A13) on 9 March 1916. On 4 September 1919, he was lost at sea while returning to Australia on board the HMAT Kanowna, aged 26. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
