Studio portrait of 2nd Lieutenant (later Captain) Aubrey Liddelow, 8th (later 59th) Battalion of East Malvern, Victoria. A school teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 22 December 1914. He was twice wounded at Gallipoli, Turkey. On 19 July 1917, aged 39, he was killed in action at Fromelles, Belgium. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France.
