Studio portrait of 1319 Sergeant Ernest Davey Morshead, 29th Battalion of Ballarat, Victoria. A high school teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 10 November 1915. On 19 July 1916, he was killed in action at Fleurbaix, France during the Battle of Fromelles, aged 21. He is buried in the Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
