Studio portrait of 5085 Sergeant (Sgt) William Patrick O'Brien, 29th Battalion of Gordon, Victoria. A serving member of the Army, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses (A38) on 22 December 1917. On 9 August 1918, he was killed in action near Harbonnieres, France, aged 24. Sgt O'Brien is buried in the Serre Road Cemetery No 2, France.
