Studio portrait of 1305 Corporal (Cpl) Leslie Alan Stevens, 38th Battalion of Ryanstown, Victoria. A school teacher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 20 June 1916. On 25 January 1917, he was killed in action near Armentieres, France, aged 26. Cpl Stevens is buried in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France.
