Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) George Robert Thompson, Australian Flying Corps (AFC) of Queenscliff, Victoria. A career soldier, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Marathon (A74) on 10 May 1917, with the March 1917 AFC enlistments. On 13 July 1918, he was killed in a flying accident at Leighterton Aerodrome, United Kingdom, aged 26. Lt. Thompson is buried in the Leighterton Church Cemetery.
