Studio portrait of Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Henry John Willis 37th Battalion of Nagambie, Victoria. A school teacher prior to enlisting, as Private Willis 37th Battalion, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata (A20) on 23 November 1916. On 30 August 1918, during an offensive patrol near Clery, sur Somme, France, he was killed in action, aged 24. 2nd Lt Willis has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
