Description

An unidentified Australian SAS soldier with a blackened face and wearing camouflaged tiger stripe fatigues, armed with a 5.56 mm Colt Commando assault rifle, fitted with a 40 mm M203 grenade launcher. He is standing in front of an M113A1 armoured personnel carrier (APC) command vehicle with the call sign three nine Mike (39M). The vehicle has been named 'CHERRYBOY 31M' and is part of B Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Royal Australian Armoured Corps. Note the row of ammunition boxes stowed in a rack on the vehicle roof deck and the two larger boxes on the roof deck towards the end of the vehicle, which are used to carry claymore mines.
