An M113A1 armoured personnel carrier (APC) ARN 134341 with the call sign nine alpha (9A) and name 'Tina' belonging to A Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Royal Australian Armoured Corps. The Callsign signifies that it is the vehicle of the Squadron 2 I-C. The vehicle commander is standing in the turret and appears to be operating the pintle mounted .50 calibre M2 HB Browning heavy machine gun while the other crew member is standing behind and assisting. The vehicle has been fitted with four antennas and the rear access ramp has been lowered. Note the row of coloured smoke grenades fitted to the back of the turret and extra ammunition boxes in a rack on the roof decking. The large flat boxes on the roof deck towards the rear of the vehicle may contain M18A1Claymore mines.
This image and P05281.015 appear to be on the Firing Range within Nui Dat confines, and is likely to be a test fire of the .50 calibre machine gun.
