Pyjama Pocket : Private W Gamble, 1 Victorian Bushmen's Contingent
Description
Cream cotton pyjama pocket woven with fine black, grey and light blue stripes. Attached to the centre is a circular white badge printed in red with a red cross within a red circle. Around the cross, within a further two red circles, is 'A GIFT FROM THE/ BRITISH NATIONAL SOCIETY FOR AID TO THE SICK AND WOUNDED IN WAR'.
History / Summary
This pocket was taken from a pair of pyjamas issued to 35 Private William Gamble, of 1 Victorian Bushmen's Contingent, after he became ill during his service in the Boer War. He was invalided back to Australia on 24 May 1900.
