Australian Services XI blazer : Sergeant C F T Price, Australian Imperial Force

Single breasted navy blue blazer with two patch pockets below the waist and an embroidered patch pocket on the left breast. The embroidery consists of a yellow rising sun over a white eagle with an green leaf spray below. The words 'ENGLAND INDIA AUSTRALIA AUST. SERVICES XI 1945' are embroidered in yellow at the bottom. The blazer body is unlined except for a yoke of wool across the upper back. The sleeves are lined with white cotton. There are three brass RAAF buttons on the front with a smaller RAAF button on each cuff.

This blazer was worn by NX34620 Sergeant Charles Frederick Thomas Price of 6 Australian General Hospital who was sent to England to assist with the repatriation of prisoners of war after the war ended in Europe. He was then selected in the Australian Services XI which was made up of servicemen from the RAAF and the Army. The team played England in a series of five 'Victory Tests' from May to August 1945. The first cricket match, at Lord's Cricket Ground, came less than two weeks after Victory in Europe was declared. The Australian team returned home via India where they played further games. Price was discharged on 22 March 1946.
