Studio portrait of 6103 Private John Sturman, 11th Battalion. A labourer of Kalgoorlie, WA, he enlisted on 6 March 1916 and sailed from Fremantle, WA, with the 19th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Miltiades on 7 August 1916 for service overseas. He was killed in action on 6 May 1917 in France and is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
