Studio portrait of 34 Sergeant (Sgt) Alfred Henry Clegg, 26th Battalion, of Charters Towers, Qld. A clerk prior to enlisting on 13 March 1915, Corporal Clegg embarked from Brisbane, Qld, aboard HMAT Ascanius on 24 May 1915. Sgt Clegg was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 29 July 1916, aged 22 years.
