Description

Original grave markers of The Reverend Thomas George Trueman, Australian Young Men's Christian Association (attached 5th Australian Divisional Ammunition Column) and 15248 Gunner (Gnr) Walter George Smith, 12th Field Artillery Brigade. Gnr Smith, a Methodist Missionary of Beechworth, Vic, enlisted on 26 August 1915 with 13th Field Artillery Brigade, and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Berrima on 4 July 1916. He was killed in action in Belgium on 21 March 1918, aged 28 years. The cross is painted black and lettered in white and at the base of the cross is written "Erected by his brother". The Reverend Trueman, of Canterbury, Vic, was killed in action in Belgium on 22 March 1918 in Belgium aged 30 years. Original print stored in Australian War Memorial Archive Store.
