Studio portrait of 6430 Private Hiram Joseph Charles Winters, 24th Battalion. A glass worker of Fitzroy, Vic, he enlisted on 12 September 1916 and sailed with the 18th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Horrotta on 23 November 1916. He died of wounds, aged 22, on 21 April 1918 and is commemorated at the Vignacourt British Cemetery, France.
