History / Summary
Given to Mrs S M Marriner, whose husband served in the Royal Australian Navy, by a friend, F B A Stewart, who also served in the RAN, to mark the commissioning of HMAS Perth into the RAN, on 29 June 1939. Perth, a modified Leander Class light cruiser, was originally commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Amphion in July 1936, before being transferred to the RAN and re-named in 1939.
