French souvenir handkerchief : Sapper F E Fegan, 2 Field Company Engineers, AIF
Description
Yellow silk chiffon handkerchief with a border of machine made lace applied with decorative scallops in red machine chainstitch. One corner has been machine chainstitch embroidered with a scrolled emblem in pale blue, pink and brown. Beneath it, in blue chainstitch, is 'To my dear Mother'.
History / Summary
Sent from France to his mother by 1125 Sapper Francis Edgar Fegan. He enlisted on 4 January 1916 and served with 11 Battalion AIF, and 2 Field Company Engineers AIF. He returned to Australia on 9 December 1918.
