History / Summary
This patriotic tray cloth was hand crocheted by Miss Elizabeth Ann Mackley of Horsham, Victoria. This design was one of many patriotic crochet patterns made popular during the First World War. This soldier pattern was created by the famous Australian crochet designer Mary Card in 1916 in reponse to requests for a pattern to commemorate the ANZAC landings of 25 April 1915.
