Due to the need for possible mobility, the unit was equipped with a lightweight screen printing press instead of the traditional and heavy lithographic press. Screen printing was slow and suited for small production runs only, with each sheet printed by hand and individually hung up to dry. The process also subjected the operators with heavy turpentine fumes which affected the nose, eyes and throat.
