Description
A wounded Afghan child is treated by medics of a United States force, Legion Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was wounded the previous day during a battle between US troops and members of the Taliban in Gombad (also known as Gonbaz) village. The 173rd Airborne Brigade was deployed to Afghanistan in February 2005 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the military response to the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
