Description

Studio portrait of 1078 Private (Pte) Fedor Gartung, 4th Battalion, of Galston, NSW. A bread carter prior to enlisting on 2 April 1914, Pte Gartung embarked from Sydney, NSW, aboard HMAT Euripides on 20 October 1914. He died of wounds in France, on 12 September 1918, aged 23. His brother, 1718A Pte Frederick Gartung was killed in action on 3 November 1916, aged 17.
