Studio portrait of 3456 Private John William Willis, 15th Battalion, of Coolongolook, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting on 30 July 1915, he embarked from Brisbane, Qld, aboard HMAT Seang Bee on 21 October 1915. He was wounded in action in France on 9 August 1916, and died of those wounds on 10 August 1916, aged 24.
