Description
Studio portrait possibly of 122 Corporal (Cpl) Alexander Leslie (Sandy) McLaren, 18th Battalion, of Leichhardt, NSW. McLaren enlisted on 11 November 1914 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic on 25 June 1915. He was promoted to corporal on 29 August 1916 and was wounded in action in the Battle of Menin Road on 20 September 1917. He died of further wounds received on 26 March 1918 in Belgium aged 22 years.
