Studio portrait of 35 Corporal Phillip Gillman, 13th Battalion, of North Sydney, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting on 7 September 1914, he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Ulysses on 22 December 1914. He was killed in action in France on 29 August 1916, aged 21.
