Informal portrait of NX23418 Private William Wellwood, 2/13th Battalion. A boot maker of Lidcombe, NSW, he enlisted on 31 May 1940. He was killed in action, aged 21, on 29 October 1942 in Egypt and is buried at El Alamein War Cemetery.
