Original grave marker of 3295 (Tpr) Trooper Thomas Roydon Hogarth MM, 27th Reinforcements, 3rd Light Horse Regiment, of Medindie, SA. A station manager prior to enlisting on 27 December 1916, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Port Sydney on 9 May 1917. Tpr Hogarth died of wounds on 1 November 1917, at Beersheba, aged 35 years. He was posthumously awarded the Military Medal (MM) on 4 February 1918. Tpr Hogarth's two brothers also served with the AIF. They were: 3556 Private Vance Bowman Hogarth, 10th Light Horse Regiment, who returned to Australia on 10 July 1919; and Lieutenant William Warren Bowman Hogarth, 7th Field Artillery Brigade, who returned to Australia on 1 July 1919 and was awarded the Military Cross on 3 June 1919. At the head of each grave a gum tree has been planted.
