Description
Informal portrait of NX6365 Corporal (Cpl) William Alfred (Bill) Fearn (right), sitting in an open air bar or cafe with three unidentified friends. Note the glasses on the table which are actually brown glass beer bottles with the neck cut off and the edge sanded smooth - although the men were often cutting their mouths on the rims. These glasses were known as Lady Blamey's, reputedly named after General Sir Thomas Blamey's wife, due to the fact that the suggestion to use the bottom half of the bottles was made by a woman.
