Studio portrait of 3780 Private (Pte) Leslie McNeil Carraill (left), and 3883 Pte William John Spurling (seated), both of 32nd Battalion. Pte Carraill enlisted on 31 May 1916 and embarked from Adelaide aboard HMAT Commonwealth on 21 September 1916. He was killed in action in France on 3 September 1918, aged 21 years. Pte Spurling enlisted on 25 July 1916 and embarked from Adelaide aboard HMAT Commonwealth on 21 September 1916. He was killed in action in France on 21 June 1918 aged 32 years.
