Studio portrait of 4731 Private Gerald Douglas Baker, 14th Battalion of Melbourne, Victoria. A bank clerk prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Anchises on 14 March 1916. He died of heat stroke at Tel El Kebir, Egypt on 16 May 1916, aged 24. He is buried in the Tel El Kebir War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
