Studio portrait of 1634 Private (later Corporal) Edric Athol Dawson, 17th Battalion of Braidwood, NSW. A bank clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 12 May 1915. He was wounded in action near Vanvillers, France on 9 August 1918. He died of his wounds at the 61st Casualty Clearing Station, France on 10 August 1918, aged 27. He is buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery, France.
