Studio portrait of 2007 Private Horace Leslie Gough, 36th Battalion of East Maitland, NSW. A bank accountant prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Osterley on 10 February 1917. He was killed in action at Passchendaele, Belgium on 12 October 1917, aged 26. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
