Studio portrait of 2919 Private Leslie James Holloway, 55th Battalion of Manly, NSW. A bank clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 25 October 1916. On 9 May 1917, he was killed in action at Bullecourt, France, aged 26. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
