Studio portrait of 1402 Private (later Corporal) Cedric Jerome Miner, 4th Battalion, of Hunters Hill, NSW. Son of Joseph Thomas and Eliza Ann Miner, of Moss Vale, NSW. A bank clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Seang Bee (A48) on 11 February 1915. He was killed in action on 2 January 1917 in France, aged 24. Originally he was buried in trenches near Fleurs but the grave was lost in subsequent fighting. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
