Description
Studio portrait of 30792 Gunner (late Private) Edward Trevor Sorell, 25th Howitzer Brigade (later 8th Light Australian Trench Mortar Battery) of North Sydney, NSW. A bank clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata (A20) on 23 November 1916. On 26 September 1916, during operations at Polygon Wood, Belgium, he was wounded in action. Because of his wounds, he was moved to the 24th General Hospital, Etaples where he died on 24 November 1917, aged 22. He is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
