Studio portrait of 4914 Private Edgar Hubert Woodward, 3rd (later 55th) Battalion of Croydon, NSW. A bank clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Star of England (A15) on 8 March 1916. He died of broncho pneumonia in the 40th Stationary Hospital, France on 27 November 1918, aged 27. He is buried in the Ste Marie Cemetery, Le Havre, France.
