Studio portrait of 2389 Private Edwin Beattie, 47th Battalion, of Coomera, Qld, son of John and Mary Elizabeth Beattie. A farmer prior to enlisting on 28 March 1916, he embarked from Brisbane, Qld aboard HMAT Seang Choon (A49) on 19 September 1916. He died of sickness on 1 January 1917 in England, aged 23. He is buried in Codford St. Mary (St. Mary) New Churchyard, Wiltshire, UK.
