Original grave marker of 188 Trooper Victor Fairfax Dowse, Imperial Camel Corps (later 31st Battalion), of Bundaberg, Qld. Son of Charles and Louisa Dowse, of Paddington, Qld. A milkman prior to enlisting at Brisbane, Qld on 15 July 1915, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Wandilla (A62) on 9 November 1915. He died of heat exhaustion on 24 June 1916 in Sherika, Egypt, aged 19. He is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt..
