Warrant Officer Class 2 Paul Petter, a member of the Civil Military Co-operation (CIMIC) Team ...
Warrant Officer Class 2 Paul Petter, a member of the Civil Military Co-operation (CIMIC) Team (centre), talking to the team's interpreter and guide (wearing a white check shirt) as they walk along the street in the village of Ar Rumaythah. They are passing a shop which is selling food, probably rice or flour in large white bags. Note the English soldier, a member of the Light Dragoons, behind them, who is one of the bodyguards for the team. CIMIC worked with Iraqi civilians to undertake projects within their villages such as building and restoration of roads, irrigation, power plants and water supply, as well as schools, community centres, veterinary centres, slaughter houses and ambulance and fire stations, and usually paid local contractors to complete the work. The CIMIC team consisted of three members, all of whom are part of the Army Reserve, and were usually accompanied by a four man infantry bodyguard, however at this time they were also accompanied by Military Policeman, Warrant Officer Class 1 Greg Westhead, who undertook a more discrete security role.
